I recently was invited to the Tennis Forum at the convention of the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) in San Diego. It was interesting to note the continued growth of the fitness industry to a degree that even challenges IHRSA's own commercial tennis facilities, not to mention tennis facilities everywhere. The fact is-
fitness is not going away, and for those facilities that have embraced it with Cardio Tennis and now the QuickStart Tennis format, the proof is in the numbers.
For instance, in 2007, Midtown Tennis Club in Chicago made $100,000 with Cardio Tennis, and it has set a goal of $150,000 for 2008. Midtown also had a 90-minute class with 187 participants.
The Longfellow Club in Massachusetts, an IHRSA member, recognized the value of QuickStart Tennis by installing smaller courts to accommodate the format, then witnessing great success. Since then, they've added a parent viewing area and they've already seen the return on their investment.
