PTR to Debut Spring TennisFest in March 2011
Hilton Head Island, SC — Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) announced that starting in March 2011, it will host an annual event for college tennis teams on Spring Break. Bringing college tennis teams to Hilton Head Island was the brainchild of Dennis Malick, who is serving as an event consultant.
PTR CEO, Dan Santorum, who worked with Malick during the first two Spring Break Tennis events at the Van der Meer Tennis Center back in 1985, stated, “We’ve come full circle, and are looking forward to hosting college and university teams who want a memorable tennis experience. With more than 200 college coaches who are PTR members, and many varsity tennis players who teach or want to teach tennis, hosting Spring TennisFest is a natural fit. It is a perfect complement to our PTR on Campus Program that offers full time students certification training, membership and liability insurance that’s affordable even on a student’s budget.”
Spring TennisFest matches will be played at Van der Meer Tennis Center, Port Royal Racquet Club, South Beach Racquet Club, Hilton Head High School, Chaplin Park Tennis Center, and on several property regime tennis courts during the month of March. “We have several teams already lined up to play in the inaugural PTR Spring TennisFest,” said Event Director, Julie Jilly. “This event is very important to our community. There’s not a better place for a college student-athlete to spend Spring Break than playing tennis on beautiful Hilton Head Island.”
More detailed information about PTR’s Spring TennisFest is available by contacting Julie Jilly or Rachael Cox at ptr@ptrtennis.org or calling 843-785-7244.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with 14,000 members in 121 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
