Sportaccord Conference Targets Global Themes
*LAUSANNE, Switzerland - *The growing worldwide importance and impact of sport will be the focus of the 2010 SportAccord Convention’s conference sessions. In keeping with the event’s first-time location in the Middle East, the conference themes of the SportAccord Convention in Dubai from April 25-30 are the changing geography of international sport and sport’s key role in the big issues on the global agenda. A powerhouse line-up of distinguished speakers will participate including Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, host city of the 2016 Olympic Games; HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, President of the International Equestrian Federation; FIFA President Sepp Blatter and Sheikh Amhad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President, of the Olympic Council of Asia
The setting of the eighth annual SportAccord Convention will be the spectacular Atlantis The Palm Resort, the focal point of the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island.
The sessions will feature a balance of sports business and broader perspectives on topics such as Sport in the Middle East, The Role of Sport as an Agent of Social Change, Sport`s Role as a Leader in Sustainable Development and Making Sponsorship Work Through Thick and Thin. There will also be a timely top-level session on the hot political subject of The Autonomy of Sport.
Other confirmed speakers include Bernard Lapasset, Chairman of the International Rugby Board; Romy Gai, CEO of the UAE Football League and Jacqueline Rast, President of Major Programmes & CEO, CH2M Hill. Every year SportAccord Week features a dynamic exhibition, numerous networking receptions and top-level conference sessions, including the City Forum, as well as the annual general meetings of the Sports Governing Bodies. The Convention attracts over 1,500 leading representatives of international sport.
