Georgia Chapters of CMAA and USPTA Hold Joint Meeting
The Georgia Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America invited the Georgia State Chapter of the United States Professional Tennis Association Southern Division to a joint meeting on May 18 at the Dunwoody Country Club in Dunwoody, Ga. More than 50 tennis-teaching professionals attended the meeting to network and learn more about CMAA.
Tom Daglis, the USPTA first vice president and director of tennis at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Md., was the featured guest speaker. He spoke on the benefits of hiring a USPTA Professional and how the USPTA helps elevate the professionalism of tennis teachers through various educational opportunities, tools and resources. Daglis also presented the USPTA programs and Web sites available to USPTA members and their facilities.
Other topics covered during general discussion included member retention at country clubs, specifically in regard to future, younger members, and the future of country clubs, especially as more public facilities are improving to meet country club standards. The meeting, which gave members of CMAA the opportunity to learn the many ways USPTA and hiring USPTA-certified professionals benefits them directly, was organized by Jon Knobbe, general manager of Dunwoody Country Club and Dave Dvorak, director of tennis at Dunwoody Country Club.
“I think all attendees from both groups found the meeting beneficial,” said Dvorak. “We had a great turnout and are already working on getting a joint meeting on the calendar again next year.”
