Quickstart Tennis Tips Online
New York, NY — PlaySportsTV, an online youth sports resource for kids, parents and coaches, has developed a series of web-based instructional videos for QuickStart Tennis — the United States Tennis Association and tennis industry partners’ new format for bringing tennis to children aged ten and under, in a more fun and dynamic way.
PlaySportsTV, which specializes in developing original instructional and coaching videos, aims to bring tennis down to size for kids, parents and youth coaches, through the production and distribution of over 35 short-form videos which offer an introduction to QuickStart Tennis, the equipment, coaching advice, drills and game tips. The complete series of videos can be viewed free of charge at playsportstv.com/quickstarttennis
QuickStart Tennis is a popular new play format designed to introduce kids to tennis in a way which helps them learn basic skills and rules quickly and easily. QuickStart Tennis utilizes a smaller court, kid-friendly equipment and modified scoring to bring the game down to scale and make it more fun for kids. Much like tee ball and touch-football, QuickStart Tennis is an ideal introduction to the game for younger players.
PlaySports TV teamed up with top tennis coaches Anne Davis and Kirk Anderson, to create the ‘How to play QuickStart Tennis’ video library. The videos are posted on playsportstv.com/quickstarttennis and select instructional pieces from the collection are offered through an embeddable video player, enabling other sports, youth, and tennis websites to post the videos on their sites free of charge.
Kirk Anderson, Director of Recreational Coaches and Programs with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and a professional tennis coach for over 30 years, has been working to promote QuickStart Tennis in the US having seen the success of similar schemes overseas. “QuickStart Tennis is the ideal introduction for kids and helps them to improve balance, agility, coordination, movement and other basic skills, while they enjoy a game that is fun and appropriate for their age,” explained Anderson. “Working with PlaySportsTV helps us to reach out to parents and kids that may want to try the game at home on their driveway, or at a local tennis court — it’s a great way for families to play and have fun together.”
Anne Davis, USTA National Manager, Recreational Coaches and Programs, is a highly experienced professional tennis coach and committed advocate of the QuickStart Tennis format. “We’ve worked with thousands of coaches who wish to offer QuickStart Tennis as a youth program, and by taking our instruction online, we can reach parents and kids directly,” stated Davis. “PlaySportsTV supports our work by providing a reference for coaches and parents that can be accessed at any time, helping people to understand and teach this fantastic new format.”
PlaySportsTV is a content-rich resource for kids, parents and coaches which offers instructional videos, drills, tips and feature articles for a wide range of youth sports at playsportstv.com. The company partners with athletes, coaches and the top teams at the local and national level to create original content that brings coaching and training to life with short 2-3 minute videos which teach key skills for all major youth sports. The website also provides a network of youth sports and sports parenting experts who share their knowledge through regular videos, features and a monthly newsletter.
PlaySportsTV was developed by Doug Donaldson, a parent and volunteer coach with a background in video production and web integration. ‘As a father of two, and a coach, I was constantly looking for a resource which would not only provide me with coaching tips and drills, but was also a destination that I could direct the kids and other parents to, as they were eager to watch plays and learn tactical drills they could try at home — so I created one, playsportstv.com,” explained Doug Donaldson, President, PlaySportsTV.com. “Tennis is a tough sport at any age, but for an 8-year old the court can be intimidating, and the game frustrating,” continued Donaldson. “Working with Kirk and Anne to create the QuickStart Tennis instructional videos was a fantastic opportunity to help get kids into tennis.”
