The 2008 Hamptons Pro/Am Tennis Invitational Benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation
Wainscott, NY — The 4th Annual Hamptons Pro/Am Tennis Invitational benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation is scheduled to take place on August 17th at the prestigious East Hampton Indoor/Outdoor Tennis Facility in Wainscott, NY. The Prostate Cancer Foundation holds two tennis events each year — one in Palm Beach, FL, and the other in East Hampton, NY — which collectively have raised over $11 million. The Prostate Cancer Foundation was founded by Michael Milken in 1993, and is the world’s largest source of philanthropic support for prostate cancer research.
The event features 40 professional and amateur tennis players and attracts hundreds of spectators. It pairs the professional players up with some of today’s biggest business leaders and entrepreneurs for a full day of round robin tennis tournament play. In the past, the event has had a host of legendary players such as Chris Evert, Jimmy Connors, Todd Martin, Luke and Murphy Jensen, Mats Wilander, Justin Gimelstob, Vince Spadea, Jimmy Arias, Aaron Krickstein, Bob Bryan, Wayne Ferreira, and Jiri Novak.
This year’s sponsorship partners include: Movado, Gamma-O, Glaceau Vitamin/Smart Water, Thorlo Socks, Babolat, Sirius Satellite Radio, HEAD Penn Racquet Sports, GrandSlamStringers.com, and many others who share the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s mission to find better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation works tirelessly in its pursuit to find a cure for prostate cancer by funding research and developing better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer. The PCF pursues its mission by reaching out to individuals, corporations and others to harness society’s resources—both financial and human—to fight this deadly disease. Over $350 million has been raised and countless grants have been distributed to more than 1,400 research projects at 150 institutions worldwide. The PCF has been a pioneer in the grant-making process, simplifying paperwork for grantees, leaving more time for researchers to conduct needed scientific research. The PCF also advocates for greater awareness of prostate cancer and more governmental resources, resulting in a twenty-fold increase in government funding for the fight against prostate cancer.
The 2008 event will feature many guest celebrity appearances and sponsorship vendor booths. Admission to the event is free and is open to the general public.
