GreenSlam Featured On Sundance Channel's "The Green" Billie Jean King Profiled on Eco-Biz
NEW YORK, NY (June 18, 2008) — Billie Jean King and GreenSlam are currently featured in a profile on Eco-Biz, now airing on The Sundance Channel.
The Sundance Channel segment, which first aired on June 17, will air this week as part of the network’s successful weekly programming called The Green. Additional airings of the segment are slated for Friday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern) and Saturday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern). The Eco Biz piece highlights King and Linda Glassel, vice president of Marketing and Brand Image at Prince Sports, a founding sponsor of GreenSlam.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the renaming of the home of the US Open to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, King, along with Pam Derderian, Nancy Becker and Ilana Kloss, launched GreenSlam, an initiative to harness the power of sports to create positive environmental impact.
In its first year, GreenSlam has moved forward to achieve its mission through various eco-conscious programs. With the global green movement spawning an increased need for workers in the burgeoning eco-industry, funds raised through GreenSlam programs will support environmental studies and “green collar” job training for underserved communities.
A veritable green Dream Team of companies and individuals have teamed up with GreenSlam, including TIA, (Tennis Industry Association), WTT (World TeamTennis) and NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) environmental action group.
GreenSlam is working hard through its many efforts to win back our planet one ball, racquet and fan at a time! Visit www.greenslam.net for more information and www.sundance.com/thegreen to view the Eco Biz program.
