The Champions Program Partners with HEAD Penn Racquet Sports

COLLEGE PARK, MD –- The Junior Tennis Champions Center, a not-for-profit junior development program located in College Park MD, today announced an official partnership with sports equipment leader HEAD Penn Racquet Sports. The three-year agreement will see Penn become the official tennis ball of the Junior Tennis Champions Center, and HEAD Racquets become an official program
racquet sponsor.

“HEAD Penn has consistently been one of the top tennis racquet and equipment manufacturers over the past 30 years,” said Martin Blackman, Director of the Champions Program, “Our players love HEAD racquets, and Penn is a great ball. A partnership with an industry leader like HEAD Penn brings us one step closer to our goal of establishing our program as the best in the world. Whether it is on the court or in the classroom, our program is all about excellence.”

The partnership between HEAD Penn and the Champions Program is a three year deal which guarantees HEAD and Penn to be the preferred choice for tennis equipment and balls. A majority of the players within the Champions Program currently play with HEAD racquets. The new relationship with the junior program will give students access to new HEAD equipment and product testing.

“It’s great to be associated with a boutique academy that works with nationally ranked junior players and helps juniors that may not normally have the financial capabilities to play tennis,” said Amy Wishingrad, National Promotions Manager HEAD Penn Racquet Sports.

The partnership with HEAD Penn is one of many highlights coming from the Junior Tennis Champions Center. The Champions Program (a 501 c 3) began in 1999 with a goal to be the best junior tennis training center in the world. Since then, the program has produced ten National Champions in all junior age groups and has sent over 40 players with the tools to become student- athletes at top universities. Four former Champions Center students are currently competing successfully on the professional tour. In addition to being the best on the court, the Champions Center strives to be the best in the community. By offering free clinics and Financial Aid for underserved families, the program allows students from all backgrounds to learn the game of tennis. The Champions Center uses tennis as a vehicle for success in all of life’s endeavors. This year the Champions Program awarded more than $200,000 in Financial Aid to kids in the program.
