NGI Sports Adds "Aussie Clay" Tennis Surface to Its Diverse Product Line

CHATTANOOGA, TN — NGI Sports, known for creating state-of-the-art, eco-friendly court surfaces, has just introduced the Nova’ProAussieClay as part of its nationally recognized Nova’Pro series of tennis court surfaces. This new surface provides tennis players with a high performance, cost-effective, low maintenance synthetic court surface with play similar to clay. The surface is particularly suited for geographic areas which have severe water restrictions.

AussieClay is a surface similar to a clay court in which sliding is possible, bounce is high, play is slow and it is easy on the player’s body. From a club perspective, it offers a solid performance while being cost-effective and durable — a clay-type surface using a carpet base. The slide and traction from a stop is very similar to clay, while the bounce is higher and slower than traditional synthetic grass turf courts. The installation is quick and simple and can be applied over concrete, asphalt, or a crushed rock base. The Nova’ProAussieClay court is available in terracotta and green with a durable colored in-fill.

“The world’s top players are training for tennis on clay,” said Rick Burke, President of NGI Sports. “Over the past 20 years, two Grand Slam tournaments have converted to hard courts and as a result, the clay court countries like Spain have dominated the clay court events. Since roughly half of the world’s ITF futures, and one third of the WTA and ATP tournaments are on clay today there is a definite need for more players to play and train on clay. Nova’ProAussieClay is a great option for tennis clubs to provide such a surface.”

The Nova’Pro Aussie Clay surface is in keeping with NGI’s “green” products, in that recycled and sustainable elements are used, and installation does not require the use of heavy construction equipment which consumes large volumes of fossil fuels for delivery and installation.
