"TENNIS TALK" receives Tennessee Tennis Media Excellence of the Year award
Nashville, TN — The Tennessee Tennis Association recently announced their 2007 award winners and this year “TENNIS TALK” received the TTA Media Excellence of the Year award. “TENNIS TALK” is the brain child of Richard Falklen, avid tennis player and Producer for the Gerry House Foundation morning radio show on 98 WSIX, and Bill Riddle, PTR/ USPTA Tennis Professional and Head Coach at Cumberland University.
TENNIS TALK was born out of semi regular guest spots of “talking tennis” that Falklen and Riddle would do on WLAC Prime Time Sports. They debuted the show on the eve of the 2007 US OPEN with the first show airing “live from New York”. Since the debut the list of guests has been a “who’s who” of local, national and international tennis industry people and leaders to include: Davis Cup Captain, Patrick McEnroe, ESPN Commentator and French Open Doubles Champion, Luke Jensen, Dr. Bryce Young, world renowned tennis psychologist as well as a live call in from Swedish Tennis Coach, Dag Jonsson from the USA vs Sweden Davis Cup match in Gothenberg, Sweden.
“I am really excited about this great award from the TTA and have been really proud of the show and how we have been able to promote tennis” said Mt. Juliet native and tennis professional, Bill Riddle.
TENNIS TALKs roots are based in Middle Tennessee and therefore a number of local tennis teaching professionals and coaches have served as guests to promote the game of tennis throughout the radio airwaves. Even though the show broadcasts to over 28 states and on the internet, this weekly show remained a source for promoting local tennis events, programs, players and facilities throughout Middle Tennessee. Falklen and Riddle will receive their award on Saturday, January 26th at the Tennessee Tennis Association annual awards luncheon in Franklin, Tennessee.
