Velasco Receives Special Texas Tennis Award
Ken McAllaster, Executive Director of the USTA, Texas Division, presents Manager and Director of Tennis, Fernando Velasco with the USTA Texas Section Senior Sprit Award. This award honors a player who, in addition to having high sectional ranking, exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, enthusiasm, conditioning, resourcefulness, and a cooperative spirit. It also recognizes the player most deserving of the respect and honor of the seniors, either in play or organizational work for the betterment and furtherance of senior activities.
Upon receiving the award, Velasco mentions “it is nice to be honored by your peers, for doing something that one enjoys doing each day, which is playing, teaching and enjoying the game that means so much to me.”
