Dunlop's Alicia Molik Wins French Open Doubles
PARIS — Dunlop Sports Group Americas congratulates Dunlop Tour Team player Alicia Molik on capturing the Roland Garros French Open Doubles title Saturday.
The 26-year-old Molik was playing with the Dunlop Aerogel 5HUNDRED when she and Italy’s Mara Santangelo defeated Japan’s Ai Sugiyama and Slovenia’s Katarina Srebotnik 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 in the finals. It is the second Grand Slam title for Molik, who had previously won the 2005 Australian Open doubles championship with Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova.
“Dunlop couldn’t be prouder of Alicia,” said Kai Nitsche, Dunlop’s General Manager of Racquet Sports. “She fought back from an injury that sidelined her for 6 months last year and is now continuing her climb back up the rankings in both singles and doubles.”
In addition to Molik, who is showing her strength on the women’s side, the Dunlop Tennis Tour Team boasts 4 male players in the ATP top 13 — Tommy Robredo (7th) James Blake (8th), Tommy Haas (10th), and Tomas Berdych (13th) — all of them playing with the extraordinary technology of the Dunlop Aerogel racquet.
