Soften grommets for easy installation
Before I try to install a new grommet strip, I place about two inches of water in a large frying pan, bring it to a boil, and remove it from the heat. Then I drop the top grommet into the very hot water for about 20 seconds. I use tongs to remove the grommet and quickly install the hot grommet onto the frame. I have had much success with this method and never have to struggle with the grommets getting onto the frame. Be careful not to leave the grommets in the hot water very long and never boil them! I have even used hot water from the tap when not around a stove. This helps, but it’s not as effective.
