Starting without Slippage

As others have pointed out, pulling tension on the first center main puts a lot of stress on the clamp holding the other center main. With no string tension behind it to help, that first clamp can and will move. To eliminate any clamp movement when pulling that first center main, position the clamp so that it is up against the 6 or 12 o’clock mounting post. Tightening the first center main string will cause the clamp to pull up against the mounting post, at which point it’s not going to move any farther. Preventing clamp movement also seems to reduce the likelihood that the string will slip, too.
