Quicker Crosses

The currently-available 40- to 44-foot string sets are much longer than they used to be, and they usually have much more string than is needed to complete the normal racquet. After I weave the first few cross strings, I count the remaining cross string grommets, measure and pull that number of lengths across the middle of the frame, then measure two more racquet widths for insurance, and cut off the excess. This speeds up the job as there is less string to pull, and it reduces wear and tear on the crosses.
