Selecting Stringing Tools

Always use the smallest awls, pliers, and clippers that you can comfortably handle — you are, after all, doing precision work. I recently had to use someone else’s machine. The machine itself was fine, but none of his tools were designed for stringing. He had fishing pliers, clippers for cutting heavy wire, and ice picks instead of awls — making for an unwieldy operation. Make it easy on yourself and don’t scrimp on your tools.
